A recent study confirms the medical findings on the effectiveness of

TRUMBULL, Connecticut, July 28 12, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Sustained Acoustic Medicine (SAM) delivered by Zetroz Systems’ sam® device is effective in healing soft tissue injuries, restoring function in patients and help them return to work or other normal daily activities.

The study, published in the journal BMC Sports Science, Medicine and Rehabilitationis a systematic review and meta-analysis to analyze the effects of SAM treatment on musculoskeletal injuries, including diathermy (tissue heating), functional outcomes (strength and range of motion), quality of life, pain reduction and the safety profile of the intervention.

The authors reviewed 13 previously published studies involving 372 patients. “Sustained Acoustic Medicine treatment results in warming and tissue recovery, improving patient function and reducing pain,” the authors found. “When patients have failed to respond to physical therapy, Sustained Acoustic Medicine has proven to be a useful adjunct to facilitate recovery and return to work. As a non-invasive, non-narcotic treatment option with an excellent profile safety, sustained acoustic medicine can be considered a good therapeutic option for practitioners.”

The study also concluded that sam® performed the following functions:

  1. Accelerates return to function and performance: When patients did not respond to traditional therapies (RICE), 87% experienced improved function and quality of life, and 55% were able to return to their activities immediately after the treatment.
  2. Provides a safe and strong diathermic effect. Targeted patient tissues experienced a significant change in therapeutic heat, an increase of 4°C to 12°C, while maintaining a safe temperature on the skin.
  3. Lowers lactic acid and improves muscle and joint performance: Patients have seen a 20% reduction in blood lactate, an improvement in joint function of 27-87%, and an increase in power, work and torque.
  4. HEALS WHILE REDUCING PAIN: Long-duration, low-intensity ultrasound like the sam® treatment increases vasodilation (blood flow and oxygenation), which expands the collagen fiber matrix, accelerating healing and increasing the integrity of the joints. injured soft tissue, significantly reducing patient pain.
  5. Easy to integrate into the patient’s home self-care regimen: 95% of patients were able to apply and perform the sam® treatment, and 93% of patients found sam® to be very easy to use.

“This new study confirms what we know from years of research and development and patient experience,” said George K. Lewis, Ph.D., and CEO of ZetrOZ Systems. “We hope to see sustained acoustic medicine widely adopted by physicians and healthcare providers to help even more people with soft tissue healing, reduce pain, and return them to normal daily activities even faster.”

The researchers’ summary agrees, suggesting that medical practitioners are considering more widespread adoption of SAM. “The data presented in these clinical studies show positive and significant benefits for patients,” they wrote. “Furthermore, a recent survey analysis of health economics and SAM practitioners supports the adoption of medical guidelines for SAM as a new mechanobiological treatment for patient care. SAM treatment, which is widely used in sports medicine, can be considered more broadly as a non-invasive, safe and effective treatment option for patients with musculoskeletal pain and soft tissue injuries.”
